Chapter 16: Rāma Passes Through the Grand Road to Meet Daśaratha

ततो वादित्रशब्दास्तु स्तुतिशब्दास्तु वन्दिनाम्।
सिंहनादाश्च शूराणां तदा शुश्रुविरे पथि॥
tato vāditra-śabdās tu stuti-śabdās tu vandinām
siṁha-nādāś ca śūrāṇāṁ tadā śuśruvire pathi
tataḥ vāditra-śabdāḥ tu = sounds of musical instruments; stuti-śabdāḥ tu = words of praise; vandinām = by professional reciters; siṁha-nādāḥ = a lion’s roar; ca = and; śūrāṇām = by the heroes; tadā = when Rāma departed; śuśruvire = were heard; pathi = on the road.
When Rāma departed, sounds of musical instruments, words of praise by professional reciters and a lion’s roar by the heroes were heard on the road.
