सर्वसीमन्तिनीभ्यश्च सीतां सीमन्तिनीं वराम्।
अमन्यन्त हि ता नार्यों रामस्य हृदयप्रियाम्॥
तया सुचरितं देव्या पुरा नूनं महत्तपः।
रोहिणीव शशाङ्केन रामसंयोगमाप या॥
sarva-sīmantinībhyaś ca sītāṁ sīmantinīṁ varām
amanyanta hi tā nāryo rāmasya hṛdaya-priyām
tayā sucaritaṁ devyā purā nūnaṁ mahat tapaḥ
rohiṇīva śaśāṅkena rāma-samyogam āpa yā
sarva-sīmantinībhyaḥ = among all married women; ca = and; sītām = Sītā; sīmantinīm = married woman; varām = to be the best; amanyanta = considered; hi = indeed; tāḥ = those; nāryaḥ = ladies; rāmasya = Rāma’s; hṛdaya-priyām = who was dear to heart; tayā = that; sucaritam = has powerfully executed; devyā = goddess; purā = in the past; nūnam = certainly; mahat = great; tapaḥ = austerity; rohiṇī = Rohiṇī; iva = just as; śaśāṅkena = [became united] with Candra; rāma-samyogam = united with Rāma; āpa = became; yā = Sītā.
And those ladies considered Sītā who was dear to Rāma’s heart to be the best married woman among all married women. Indeed, Sītā became united with Rāma just as Rohiṇī [became united] with Candra. Certainly, that goddess has powerfully executed great austerity in the past.1
