Chapter 17: Rāma Glorified by His well-wishers
Text 2.17.8
पितामहैराचरितं तथैव प्रपितामहैः।
अद्योपादाय तं मार्गमभिषिक्तोऽनुपालय॥
pitāmahair ācaritaṁ tathaiva prapitāmahaiḥ
adyopādāya taṁ mārgam abhiṣikto ’nupālaya
pitāmahaiḥ = by Your grandfather; ācaritam = put into practice; tathā eva = and; prapitāmahaiḥ = great-grandfather; adya = today; upādāya = accept and; tam = the famous; mārgam = code of conduct; abhiṣiktaḥ = upon being coronated; anupālaya = follow.
“Upon being coronated today, accept and follow the famous code of conduct put into practice by Your grandfather and great-grandfather.
GLOSS. The reference is to the Lord’s forefathers of His father.
