चन्दनानां च मुख्यानामगरूणां च सञ्चयैः।
उत्तमानां च गन्धानां क्षौमकौशाम्बरस्य च॥
अविद्धाभिश्च मुक्ताभिरुत्तमैः स्फाटिकैरपि।
शोभमानमसम्बाधं तं राजपथमुत्तमम्॥
संवृतं विविधैः पण्यैर्भक्ष्यैरुच्चावचैरपि।
ददर्श तं राजपथं दिवि देवैपथं यथा॥
दध्यक्षतहविर्लाजैर्धूपैरगरुचन्दनैः।
नानामाल्योपगन्धैश्च सदाभ्यर्चितचत्वरम्॥
आशीर्वादान्बहूञ्शृण्वन्सुहृद्भिः समुदीरितान्।
यथार्हं चापि सम्पूज्य सर्वानेव नरान्ययौ॥

uttamānāṁ ca gandhānāṁ kṣauma-kauśāmbarasya ca
aviddhābhiś ca muktābhir uttamaiḥ sphāṭikair api
śobhamānam asambādhaṁ taṁ rāja-patham uttamam
saṁvṛtaṁ vividhaiḥ paṇyair bhakṣyair uccāvacair api
dadarśa taṁ rāja-pathaṁ divi deva-pathaṁ yathā
dadhy-akṣata-havir-lājair dhūpair agaru-candanaiḥ
nānā-mālyopagandhaiś ca sadābhyarcita-catvaram
āśīrvādān bahūñ śṛṇvan suhṛdbhiḥ samudīritān
yathārhaṁ cāpi sampūjya sarvān eva narān yayau
candanānām ca = sandalwood; mukhyānām = of high-grade; agarūṇām ca = agaru; sañcayaiḥ = with collections; uttamānām ca = excellent; gandhānām = fragrances; kṣauma-kauśa-ambarasya ca = cloth made of dukūla and silk; aviddhābhiḥ = fresh, unpierced; ca = as well as; muktābhiḥ = pearls; uttamaiḥ = excellent; sphāṭikaiḥ = crystals; api = and; śobhamānam = it was beautiful; asambādham = and wide; tam = filled with all kinds of fortunes; rāja-patham = royal road; uttamam = the excellent; saṁvṛtam = the road was bordered on both sides; vividhaiḥ = by various; paṇyaiḥ = stalls; bhakṣyaiḥ = eatables; ucca-avacaiḥ = of various grades; api = and; dadarśa = He observed; tam = the; rāja-patham = royal road; divi = in heaven; deva-patham = the road of the devas; yathā = [the road] resembled; dadhi-akṣata-haviḥ-lājaiḥ = by [the presence of] yoghurt, unbroken grains, sacrificial oblations, parched grains; dhūpaiḥ = fragrances; agaru-candanaiḥ = agaru, sandalwood; nānā-mālya-upagandhaiḥ ca = various flowers and perfumes; sadā = always; abhyarcita-catvaram = the yards [by] the road were honored 1; āśīrvādān = blessings; bahūn = the many; śṛṇvan = while hearing; suhṛdbhiḥ = by His well-wishers; samudīritān = uttered; yathā-arham = as appropriate; ca api = and; sampūjya = after honoring; sarvān eva = every; narān = man; yayau = He traversed.
He observed the excellent and wide royal road filled with all kinds of fortunes. It was beautiful with collections of high grade sandalwood, agaru, excellent fragrances, cloth made of dukūla and silk as well as fresh, unpierced pearls and excellent crystals. The road was bordered on both sides by various stalls and eatables of various grades. He traversed the royal road while hearing the many blessings uttered by His well-wishers and after honoring every man as appropriate. The yards [by] the road were always honored by [the presence of] yoghurt, unbroken grains, sacrificial oblations, parched grains, fragrances, agaru, sandalwood, various flowers and perfumes. [The road] resembled the road of the devas in heaven.
The Lord honored every man as appropriate by glancing, moving His eye brows, speaking, joining His palms in supplication and so on.
GLOSS. Samudīritān can also be split as samud-īritān indicating that the eternally delighted Rāma heard the blessings offered by His well-wishers to bless them.
