Chapter 18: Kaikeyī Informs Rāma About the two Boons
Text 2.18.39
एतेन त्वां नरेन्द्रोऽयं कारुण्येन समाप्लुतः।
शोकसङ्क्लिष्टवदनो न शक्नोति निरीक्षितुम्॥
etena tvāṁ narendro ’yaṁ kāruṇyena samāplutaḥ
śoka-saṅkliṣṭa-vadano na śaknoti nirīkṣitum
Because of having granted these two boons, the king is overcome by pity and is unable to see You with a face afflicted by distress.
