Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 19: Rāma Promises to Leave for the Forest
Text 2.19.15
ब्रीडान्वितः स्वयं यच्च नृपस्त्वां नाभिभाषते।
नैतत्किञ्चिन्नरश्रेष्ठ मन्युरेषोऽपनीयताम्॥
vrīḍānvitaḥ svayaṁ yac ca nṛpas tvāṁ nābhibhāṣate
naitat kiñcin nara-śreṣṭha manyur eṣo ’panīyatām
vrīḍā-anvitaḥ = because of his embarrassment; svayam = personally; yat ca = about; nṛpaḥ = the king; tvām = You [all this]; na = not; abhibhāṣate = telling; na etat kiñcit = there is no need to worry; nara-śreṣṭha = O prince; manyuḥ eṣaḥ = Your distress [about him not talking to You]; apanīyatām = set aside.
There is no need to worry about the king not personally telling You [all this] because of his embarassment. O prince, set aside Your distress [about him not talking to You].
There was no reason for Daśaratha to avoid talking to Rāma except for his embarassment.
