Chapter 19: Rāma Promises to Leave for the Forest
Text 2.19.28
वन्दित्वा चरणौ रामो विसंज्ञस्य पितुस्तदा।
कैकेय्याश्चाप्यनार्याय निष्पपात महाद्युतिः॥
vanditvā caraṇau rāmo visaṁjñasya pitus tadā
kaikeyyāś cāpy anāryāyā niṣpapāta mahā-dyutiḥ
vanditvā = offered His obeisances and; caraṇau = unto the feet; rāmaḥ = Rāma; visaṁjñasya = unconscious; pituḥ = of His father; tadā = then; kaikeyyāḥ = Kaikeyī; ca api = and; anāryāyāḥ = [the feet] of the uncivilized; niṣpapāta = departed; mahā-dyutiḥ = of great effulgence.
Rāma of great effulgence offered His obeisances unto the feet of His unconscious father and [the feet] of the uncivilized Kaikeyī and then departed.
