Chapter 20: Kausalyā’s Lamentation
Text 2.20.10
दृष्ट्वैव तु तदा रामं ते सर्वे सहसोत्थिताः।
जयेन जयतां श्रेष्ठं वर्धयन्ति स्म राघवम्॥
dṛṣṭvaiva tu tadā rāmaṁ te sarve sahasotthitāḥ
jayena jayatāṁ śreṣṭhaṁ vardhayanti sma rāghavam
dṛṣṭvā eva tu tadā = as soon as saw; rāmam = Rāma; te sarve = all of them; sahasā = immediately; utthitāḥ = they stood up; jayena = by saying, “May You be victorious!”; jayatām = of the victorious; śreṣṭham = the best; vardhayanti sma = and wished; rāghavam = Rāghava.
As soon as all of them saw Rāma, they immediately stood up and wished the best of the victorious, Rāghava, by saying, “May You be victorious!”
