Chapter 21: Rāma Consoles Kausalyā and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.21.17
अनुरक्तोऽस्मि भावेन भ्रातरं देवि तत्त्वतः।
सत्येन धनुषा चैव दत्तेनेष्टेन ते शपे॥
anurakto ’smi bhāvena bhrātaraṁ devi tattvataḥ
satyena dhanuṣā caiva datteneṣṭena te śape
anuraktaḥ = attached; asmi = I am; bhāvena = lovingly; bhrātaram = to My brother; devi = O queen; tattvataḥ = in truth; satyena = on the strength of My truthfulness; dhanuṣā = bow; ca eva = and; dattena = charity; iṣṭena = worship of the Lord; te = to you; śape = I promise this.
O queen, I am lovingly attached to My brother in truth. I promise this to you on the strength of My truthfulness, bow, charity and worship of the Lord.
