Chapter 21: Rāma Consoles Kausalyā and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.21.19
हरामि वीर्यादुःखं ते तमः सूर्य इवोदितः।
देवी पश्यतु मे वीर्यं राघवश्चैव पश्यतु॥
harāmi vīryād duḥkhaṁ te tamaḥ sūrya ivoditaḥ
devī paśyatu me vīryaṁ rāghavaś caiva paśyatu
harāmi = I will destroy; vīryāt = with My prowess; duḥkham = distress; te = your; tamaḥ = [destroys] darkness; sūryaḥ = sun; iva = just as; uditaḥ = the rising; devī = the Queen; paśyatu = may watch; me = My; vīryam = prowess; rāghavaḥ = the descendant of Raghu; ca eva = also; paśyatu = may watch.
I will destroy your distress with My prowess just as the rising sun [destroys] darkness. May the Queen watch My prowess. May the descendant of Raghu also watch.
GLOSS. Here, “the Queen” refers to Kaikeyī and “the descendant of Raghu” refers to Daśaratha.
