Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 21: Rāma Consoles Kausalyā and Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.21.54

किं जीवितेनेह विना त्वया मे लोकेन वा किं स्वधयामृतेन।
श्रेयो मुहूर्तं तव सन्निधानं ममेह कृत्स्नादपि जीवलोकात्॥

kiṁ jīviteneha vinā tvayā me
lokena vā kiṁ svadhayāmṛtena
śreyo muhūrtaṁ tava sannidhānaṁ
mameha kṛtsnād api jīva-lokāt

kim = what; jīvitena = is the use of life; iha = here; vinā = without; tvayā = You; me = my; lokena = is the use of a [superior] next life; = or; kim = what; svadhayā = the pleasures of Pitṛloka; amṛtena = or the nectar of Svargaloka; śreyaḥ = is better; muhūrtam = a moment; tava = Your; sannidhānam = in presence; mama = for me; iha = here; kṛtsnāt api = than [being with] all of; jīva-lokāt = the other living beings.

What is the use of my life here without You? What is the use of a [superior] next life or the pleasures of Pitṛloka or the nectar of Svargaloka? A moment in Your presence here is better for me than [being with] all of the other living beings.

Kausalyā now responds to Rāma’s request in text 50 that she should also serve the king now. “All of the rest of superior living beings” are those who live in Maharloka and more pleasurable abodes.
