Chapter 22: Rāma Instructs Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.22.6
यस्या मदभिषेकार्थे मानसं परितप्यते।
माता मे सा यथा न स्यात्सविशङ्का तथा कुरु॥
yasyā mad-abhiṣekārthe mānasaṁ paritapyate
mātā me sā yathā na syāt saviśaṅkā tathā kuru
yasyāḥ = her; mat-abhiṣeka-arthe = while thinking about My coronation; mānasam = mind; paritapyate = is suffering pain; mātā me sā = My mother Kaikeyī; yathā na syāt saviśaṅkā = will free from hear; tathā kuru = do whatever.
Do whatever will free My mother Kaikeyī from fear. Her mind is suffering pain while thinking about My coronation.
Rāma wanted Lakṣmaṇa to free Queen Kaikeyī from her fear that Rāma might consult with Lakṣmaṇa and usurp the kingdom back.
