Chapter 22: Rāma Instructs Lakṣmaṇa
Text 2.22.5
सौमित्रे योऽभिषेकार्थे मम सम्भारसम्भ्रमः।
अभिषेकनिवृत्त्यर्थे सोऽस्तु सम्भारसम्भ्रमः॥
saumitre yo ’bhiṣekārthe mama sambhāra-sambhramaḥ
abhiṣeka-nivṛtty-arthe so ’stu sambhāra-sambhramaḥ
saumitre = O son of Sumitrā-devī; yaḥ = as; abhiṣeka-arthe mama = for My coronation; sambhāra-sambhramaḥ = the enthusiasm You had to collect ingredients; abhiṣeka-nivṛtti-arthe = to stop the coronation; saḥ astu sambhāra-sambhramaḥ = may You have the enthusiasm to collect ingredients to the same degree.
O son of Sumitrā-devī, may You have the enthusiasm to collect ingredients to stop My coronation to the same degree as the enthusiasm You had to collect ingredients for My coronation.
[Prior to meeting Kaikeyī,] Lakṣmaṇa was enthusiastic in presenting Rāma with the ingredients [for the coronation]. Now Rāma wanted Lakṣmaṇa to have the same enthusiasm in stopping the coronation by presenting Him with ingredients to live in the forest.
