Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 23: Lakṣmaṇa’s Arguments
Text 2.23.32

खड्गनिष्पेषनिष्पिष्टैर्गहना दुश्चरा च मे।
हस्त्यश्वनरहस्तोरुशिरोभिर्भविता मही॥

khaḍga-niṣpeṣa-niṣpiṣṭair gahanā duścarā ca me
hasty-aśva-nara-hastoru-śirobhir bhavitā mahī

khaḍga-niṣpeṣa-niṣpiṣṭaiḥ = cut into pieces by sword; gahanā = having become densely thick; duścarā ca = difficult to walk on; me = My; hasti-aśva-nara-hasta-ūru-śirobhiḥ = with the hands, legs and heads of elephants, horses and men; bhavitā = will be; mahī = the earth.

The earth will be difficult to walk on, having become densely thick with the hands, legs and heads of elephant, horses and men cut into pieces by My sword.

Lakṣmaṇa wants to tell Rāma that the earth would become densely thick like a forest.
