Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.10
तथा निगदितं मात्रा तद्वाक्यं पुरुषर्षभः।
श्रुत्वा रामोऽब्रवीद्वाक्यं मातरं भृशदुःखिताम्॥
tathā nigaditaṁ mātrā tad vākyaṁ puruṣa-rṣabhaḥ
śrutvā rāmo ’bravīd vākyaṁ mātaraṁ bhṛśa-duḥkhitām
tathā = these; nigaditam = spoken; mātrā = by His mother; tat vākyam = words; puruṣa-ṛṣabhaḥ = Prince; śrutvā = upon hearing; rāmaḥ = Rāma; abravīt = spoke; vākyam = the following words; mātaram = mother; bhṛśa-duḥkhitām = to His deeply afflicted.
Upon hearing these words spoken by His mother, Prince Rāma spoke the following words to His deeply afflicted mother.
