Chapter 24: Rāma Instructs Kausalyā
Text 2.24.23
यथा मयि तु निष्क्रान्ते पुत्रशोकेन पार्थिवः।
श्रमं नावाप्नुयात्किञ्चिदप्रमत्ता तथा कुरु॥
yathā mayi tu niṣkrānte putra-śokena pārthivaḥ
śramaṁ nāvāpnuyāt kiñcid apramattā tathā kuru
yathā = to ensure that; mayi tu = after I; niṣkrānte = depart [to the forest]; putra-śokena = in distress over Me, his son; pārthivaḥ = the king; śramam na avāpnuyāt = does not strain himself; kiñcit = even slightly; apramattā = attentively; tathā kuru = do whatever is needed.
Attentively do whatever is needed to ensure that the king does not strain himself even slightly in distress over Me, his son, after I depart [to the forest].
