Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 32: Rāma Gives Away His Wealth Before Departing
Text 2.32.1

ततः शासनमाज्ञाय भ्रातुः शुभतरं प्रियम्। गत्वा स प्रविवेशाशु सुयज्ञस्य निवेशनम्॥

tataḥ śāsanam ājñāya bhrātuḥ śubhataraṁ priyam gatvā sa praviveśāśu suyajñasya niveśanam

tataḥ śāsanam = order; ājñāya = accepting; bhrātuḥ = of His brother; śubhataram = the more auspicious; priyam = and pleasant; gatvā = went to and; saḥ = Lakṣmaṇa; praviveśa = entered it; āśu = quickly; suyajñasya = Suyajña’s; niveśanam = house.

Accepting the more auspicious and pleasant order of His brother, Lakṣmaṇa quickly went to Suyajña’s house and entered it.

When it was finalized that Sītā-devī and Śrī Lakṣmaṇa would follow Rāmacandra, He gave in charity before departing. That is described in this chapter.

His order was more auspicious because it was about serving brāhmaṇas. It was a pleasant order for Lakṣmaṇa because it was the result of Rāma’s permitting Lakṣmaṇa to accompany Him.
