Chapter 32: Rāma Gives Away His Wealth Before Departing
Text 2.32.30
तं वृद्धं तरुणी भार्या बालानादाय दारकान्। अब्रवीद्ब्राह्मणं वाक्यं दारिद्र्येणाभिपीडिता॥
taṁ vṛddhaṁ taruṇī bhāryā bālān ādāya dārakān abravīd brāhmaṇaṁ vākyaṁ dāridryeṇābhipīḍitā
tam = to the; vṛddham = old; taruṇī = youthful; bhāryā = his wife; bālān = young; ādāya = brought and; dārakān = their sons; abravīt = spoke; brāhmaṇam = brāhmaṇa; vākyam = the following words; dāridryeṇa = by poverty; abhipīḍitā = tormented.
His youthful wife, tormented by poverty, brought their young sons to the old brāhmaṇa and spoke the following words.
