Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 33: Rāma, Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa Depart to Meet Daśaratha
Text 2.33.1

दत्त्वा तु सह वैदेह्या ब्राह्मणेभ्यो धनं बहु।
जग्मतुः पितरं द्रष्टुं सीतया सह राघवौ॥

dattvā tu saha vaidehyā brāhmaṇebhyo dhanaṁ bahu
jagmatuḥ pitaraṁ draṣṭuṁ sītayā saha rāghavau

dattvā tu = having given in charity; saha vaidehyā = in the presence of Vaidehī; brāhmaṇebhyaḥ = to the brāhmaṇas; dhanam = wealth; bahu = abundant; jagmatuḥ = departed; pitaram = Their father; draṣṭum = to see; sītayā = Sītā-devī; saha = with; rāghavau = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.

Having given abundant wealth to the brāhmaṇas in charity in the presence of Vaidehī, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa departed with Sītā-devī to see Their father.

Though His father had permitted Him to leave, Rāma again went to meet Daśaratha to permit Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa to depart [with Him]. This is described from this verse onwards.
