Chapter 33: Rāma, Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa Depart to Meet Daśaratha
Text 2.33.23

बिलानि दंष्ट्रिणः सर्वे सानूनि मृगपक्षिणः।
त्यजन्त्यस्मद्भयाद्गीता गजाः सिंहा वनान्यपि॥

bilāni daṁṣṭriṇaḥ sarve sānūni mṛga-pakṣiṇaḥ
tyajanty asmad-bhayād bhītā gajāḥ siṁhā vanāny api

bilāni = their holes; daṁṣṭriṇaḥ = the snakes; sarve = all; sānūni = [will give up] the ridges; mṛga-pakṣiṇaḥ = the beasts and birds; tyajanti = will give up; asmat-bhayāt = of the dangers from us; bhītāḥ = frightened; gajāḥ = elephants; siṁhāḥ = lions; vanāni = [will give up] the forests; api = and.

All the snakes will give up their holes. The beasts and birds [will give up] the ridges. Elephants and lions [will give up] the forests, frightened of the dangers from us.1
