Text 2.34.13

अर्धसप्तशतास्तास्तु प्रमदास्ताम्रलोचनाः।
कौसल्यां परिवार्याथ शनैर्जग्मुर्धृतव्रताः॥

ardha-sapta-śatās tās tu pramadās tāmra-locanāḥ
kausalyāṁ parivāryātha śanair jagmur dhṛta-vratāḥ

ardha-sapta-śatāḥ tāḥ tu = three hundred and fifty; pramadāḥ = women; tāmra-locanāḥ = their eyes were red; kausalyām = Kausalyā; parivārya = surrounded and; atha śanaiḥ = slowly; jagmur = went [to the king’s residence]; dhṛta-vratāḥ = and they were fixed in their vows.

Three hundred and fifty women surrounded Kausalyā and slowly went [to the king’s residence]. Their eyes were red as copper and they were fixed in their vows.

They had continuously cried because of Rāma’s exile and so their eyes were red as copper.
