पुरं च राष्ट्रं च मही च केवला मया विसृष्टा भरताय दीयताम्।
अहं निदेशं भवतोऽनुपालयन्वनं गमिष्यामि चिराय सेवितुम्॥
puraṁ ca rāṣṭraṁ ca mahī ca kevalā
mayā visṛṣṭā bharatāya dīyatām
ahaṁ nideśaṁ bhavato ’nupālayan
vanaṁ gamiṣyāmi cirāya sevitum
puram ca = the city; rāṣṭram ca = the country; mahī = the earth; ca = and; kevalā = the rest of; mayā visṛṣṭā = [all of] which I have given up; bharatāya = Bharata; dīyatām = please give; aham = I; nideśam = order; bhavataḥ = your; anupālayan = following; vanam = to the forest; gamiṣyāmi = will go; cirāya = for a long time; sevitum = to reside [there].
Please give Bharata the city, the country and the rest of the earth, [all of] which I have given up. Following your order, I will go to the forest for a long time to reside [there].1
