Chapter 36: Kaikeyī Forbids the King from Sending Wealth With Rāma
Text 2.36.15
तस्यैतत्क्रोधसंयुक्तमुक्तं श्रुत्वा वराङ्गनी।
कैकेयी द्विगुणं क्रुद्धा राजानमिदमब्रवीत्॥
tasyaitat krodha-saṁyuktam uktaṁ śrutvā varāṅganā
kaikeyī dvi-guṇaṁ kruddhā rājānam idam abravīt
tasya = spoken by him; etat = these; krodha-saṁyuktam = of anger; uktam = words; śrutvā = hearing; vara-aṅganā = the beautiful woman; kaikeyī = Kaikeyī; dvi-guṇam = twice as; kruddhā = became angry; rājānam = to the king; idam = the following; abravīt = and spoke.
Hearing these words of anger spoken by him, the beautiful woman Kaikeyī became twice as angry and spoke the following to the king.
She became twice as angry beause her ambition would be destroyed by this roundabout [tactic of Daśaratha]. In other words, she became extremely angry.
