Chapter 36: Kaikeyī Forbids the King from Sending Wealth With Rāma
Text 2.36.24

तं यानं शीघ्रमारोप्य सभार्यं सपरिच्छदम्।
यावज्जीवं विवास्योऽयमिति स्वानन्वशात्पिता॥

taṁ yānaṁ śīghram āropya sabhāryaṁ saparicchadam
yāvaj-jīvaṁ vivāsyo ’yam iti svān anvaśāt pitā

tam = him; yānam = in a vehicle; śīghram = quickly; āropya = having placed; sabhāryam = his wife; saparicchadam = and bare necessities; yāvat-jīvam = for as long as he lives; vivāsyaḥ = should be banished; ayam iti = he; svān = his subjects; anvaśāt = ordered; pitā = his father.

Having quickly placed him, his wife and required paraphernalia for living in a vehicle, his father ordered his subjects, “He should be banished for as long as he lives.”
