Chapter 36: Kaikeyī Forbids the King from Sending Wealth With Rāma
Text 2.36.23
स तासां वचनं श्रुत्वा प्रकृतीनां नराधिपः।
तं तत्याजाहितं पुत्रं तासां प्रियचिकीर्षया॥
sa tāsāṁ vacanaṁ śrutvā prakṛtīnāṁ narādhipaḥ
taṁ tatyājāhitaṁ putraṁ tāsāṁ priya-cikīrṣayā
saḥ = the; tāsām = of those; vacanam = the words; śrutvā = upon hearing; prakṛtīnām = subjects; nara-adhipaḥ = king; tam1 tatyāja = rejected; ahitam = harmful; putram = his son; tāsām = them; priya-cikīrṣayā = to please.
Upon hearing the words of those subjects, the king rejected his harmful son to please them.
