Chapter 37: Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa and Sītā Wear Clothes of Bark
Text 2.37.9

अथात्मपरिधानार्थं सीता कौशेयवासिनी।
समीक्ष्य चीरं सन्त्रस्ता पृषती वागुरामिव॥

athātma-paridhānārthaṁ sītā kauśeyavāsinī
samīkṣya cīraṁ santrastā pṛṣatī vāgurām iva

atha ātma-paridhāna-artham = to be worn by her; sītā = Sītā; kauśeyavāsinī = who was dressed in silk; samīkṣya = upon seeing; cīram = the cloth made of bark; santrastā = became frightened; pṛṣatī = a deer [that had seen]; vāgurām = a net to catch it 3; iva = like.

Upon seeing the cloth made of bark to be worn by her, Sītā who was dressed in silk became frightened like a deer [that had seen] a net to catch it.
