Text 2.37.17
पितुर्वाक्यानुरोधेन गतस्य विजनं वनम्।
तावद्दर्शनमस्यां नः सफलं भवतु प्रभो।।
pitur vākyānurodhena gatasya vijanaṁ vanam
tāvad darśanam asyāṁ naḥ saphalaṁ bhavatu prabho
pituḥ = Your father’s; vākya-anurodhena = in obedience to instruction; gatasya = You are away; vijanam = in the lonely; vanam = forest; tāvat = as long as; darśanam = sight [of You]; asyām = [by placing it] on Sītā; naḥ = our; saphalam bhavatu = let become successful; prabho = O Lord.
O Lord, let our sight [of You] become successful [by placing it] on Sītā as long as You are away in the lonely forest in obedience to Your father’s instruction.
The ladies wanted to watch over Sītā the way they had watched over Rāma, and wanted to do so until Rāma returned [from the forest].
