Chapter 38: Rāma Requests the King to Take Care of His Mother Kausalyā

स निःश्वस्योष्णमैक्ष्वाकस्तां भार्यामिदमब्रवीत्।
कैकेयि कुशचीरेण न सीता गन्तुमर्हति॥
sa niḥśvasyoṣṇam aikṣvākas tāṁ bhāryām idam abravīt
kaikeyi kuśa-cīreṇa na sītā gantum arhati
saḥ = the; niḥśvasya = sighing; uṣṇam = warmly; aikṣvākaḥ = descendant of Ikṣvāku; tām bhāryām = his wife; idam = this; abravīt = told; kaikeyi = Kaikeyī; kuśa-cīreṇa = dressed in the garments of an ascetic; na = not; sītā = Sītā; gantum = go; arhati = should.
Sighing warmly, the descendant of Ikṣvāku told his wife this: “Kaikeyī, Sītā should not go dressed in the garments of an ascetic.
