Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 39: Kausalyā Instructs Sītā
Text 2.3910

औपवाह्यं रथं युक्त्वा त्वमायाहि हयोत्तमैः।
प्रापयैनं महाभागमितो जनपदात्परम्॥

aupavāhyaṁ rathaṁ yuktvā tvam āyāhi hayottamaiḥ
prāpayainaṁ mahā-bhāgam ito janapadāt param

aupavāhyam ratham = to a royal chariot; yuktvā = yoke and; tvam āyāhi = bring it; haya-uttamaiḥ = excellent horses; prāpaya = take; enam = this; mahā-bhāgam = greatly opulent Rāma; itaḥ = this; janapadāt = from country; param = to the next.

Yoke excellent horses to a royal chariot and bring it. Take this greatly opulent Rāma from this country to the next.1

Aupavāhyam ratham indicates that he is referring to a chariot meant for short distance travel, not to a chariot meant for use in a war.

1 The original expression for country is janapada which refers to an inhabited country.
