Chapter 39: Kausalyā Instructs Sītā
Text 2.39.33
तां प्राञ्जलिरभिक्रम्य मातृमध्येऽतिसत्कृताम्।
रामः परमधर्मात्मा मातरं वाक्यमब्रवीत्॥
tāṁ prāñjalir abhikramya mātṛ-madhye ’tisatkṛtām
rāmaḥ parama-dharmātmā mātaraṁ vākyam abravīt
tām = to her; prāñjaliḥ = [then] joined His palms in supplication; abhikramya = circumambulated; mātṛ-madhye = amidst [all of] His mothers; atisatkṛtām = who was greatly honored; rāmaḥ = Rāma; parama-dharma-ātmā = who was supremely devoted to dharma; mātaram = His mother; vākyam = the following words; abravīt = and spoke.
Rāma who was supremely devoted to dharma [then] joined His palms in supplication, circumambulated His mother who was greatly honored amidst [all of] His mothers, and spoke the following words to her.
