sītāyā vacanaṁ śrutvā kausalyā hṛdayaṁgamam
śuddha-sattvā mumocāśru sahasā duḥkha-harṣajam
sītāyā = Sītā’s; vacanam = words; śrutvā = upon hearing; kausalyā = Kausalyā; hṛdayaṁgamam = so pleasing to the heart; śuddha-sattvā = of pure goodness; mumoca = shed; aśru = tears; sahasā = immediately; duḥkha-harṣajam = due to distress and delight.
Upon hearing Sītā’s words so pleasing to the heart, Kausalyā of pure goodness immediately shed tears due to distress and delight.
Duḥkha-harṣajam. Queen Kausalyā was distressed because Śrī Rāma departed to the forest and delighted upon hearing Sītā’s words on her firm adherence to the principles of chastity and service to her husband.
