Chapter 39: Kausalyā Instructs Sītā
Text 2.39.37
ताश्चापि स तथैवार्ता मातॄर्दशरथात्मजः।
धर्मयुक्तमिदं वाक्यं निजगाद कृताञ्जलिः॥
tāś cāpi sa tathaivārtā mātṝr daśarathātmajaḥ
dharma-yuktam idaṁ vākyaṁ nijagāda kṛtāñjaliḥ
tāḥ = to those; ca api = also; saḥ = the; tathā eva = like Kausalyā; ārtāḥ = who were distressed; mātṝḥ = mothers of His; daśaratha-ātmajaḥ = son of Daśaratha; dharma-yuktam = of dharma; idam = the following; vākyam = words; nijagāda = and spoke; kṛta-añjaliḥ = joined His palms in supplication.
The son of Daśaratha joined His palms in supplication and spoke the following words of dharma to those mothers of His who were also distressed like Kausalyā.
