Chapter 39: Kausalyā Instructs Sītā
Text 2.39.36
एतावदभिनीतार्थमुक्त्वा स जननीं वचः।
त्रयः शतशतार्धाश्च ददर्शावेक्ष्य मातरः॥
etāvad abhinītārtham uktvā sa jananīṁ vacaḥ
trayaḥ śata śatārdhāś ca dadarśāvekṣya mātaraḥ
etāvat = this much; abhinīta-artham = which included everything He wanted to tell; uktvā = having spoken; saḥ = He; jananīm = His mother; vacaḥ = what to tell; trayaḥ śata śata-ardhāḥ ca = three hundred and fifty; dadarśa = and then looked at them; avekṣya = thought about; mātaraḥ = His mothers.
Having spoken this much which included everything He wanted to tell His mother, He thought about what to tell His three hundred and fifty mothers and then looked at them.
