Chapter 40: Rāma Departs from Ayodhyā
Text 2.40.14
तं रथं सूर्यसङ्काशं सीता हृष्टेन चेतसा।
आरुरोह वरारोहा कृत्वालङ्कारमात्मनः॥
taṁ rathaṁ sūrya-saṅkāśaṁ sītā hṛṣṭena cetasā
āruroha varārohā kṛtvālaṅkāram ātmanaḥ
tam = the; ratham = chariot; sūrya-saṅkāśam = that blazed like the sun; sītā = Sītā; hṛṣṭena cetasā = and a delighted heart; āruroha = climbed on; vara-ārohā = of excellent appearance; kṛtvā alaṅkāram = after ornamenting; ātmanaḥ = herself.
After ornamenting herself, Sītā of excellent appearance and a delighted heart climbed on the chariot that blazed like the sun.1

GLOSS. Sītā’s heart was delighted that the rākṣasas would be torn apart [upon Rāma’s departure to the forest].
