Chapter 40: Rāma Departs from Ayodhyā
Text 2.40.26
अहो लक्ष्मण सिद्धार्थः सततं प्रियवादिनम्।
भ्रातरं देवसङ्काशं यस्त्वं परिचरिष्यसि॥
aho lakṣmaṇa siddhārthaḥ satataṁ priyavādinam
bhrātaraṁ deva-saṅkāśaṁ yas tvaṁ paricariṣyasi
aho = O; lakṣmaṇa = Lakṣmaṇa; siddha-arthaḥ = Your have [certainly] fulfilled Your purposes; satatam = and always; priyavādinam = speaks pleasingly; bhrātaram = Your brother; deva-saṅkāśam = He [even] illuminates the devas; yaḥ tvam = You; paricariṣyasi = will fully serve.
O Lakṣmaṇa, You will fully serve Your brother. He [even] illuminates the devas and always speaks pleasingly.1 You have [certainly] fulfilled Your purposes!
