महत्येषा हि ते सिद्धिरेष चाभ्युदयो महान्।
एष स्वर्गस्य मार्गश्च यदेनमनुगच्छसि॥
mahaty eṣā hi te siddhir eṣa cābhyudayo mahān
eṣa svargasya mārgaś ca yad enam anugacchasi
mahatī = great; eṣā hi = this is; te = Your; siddhiḥ = perfection; eṣaḥ = this is; ca = and; abhyudayaḥ = prosperity [for You]; mahān = great; eṣaḥ = this; svargasya = leads to the heavenly abode; mārgaḥ ca = path; yat = by which; enam = Rāma; anugacchasi = You follow.
This path by which You follow Rāma leads to the heavenly abode. This is great prosperity [for You] and this is Your great perfection.1
1 By the will of the Lord, this statement of guarantee has been uttered by the residents of Ayodhyā for anyone who boldly sets aside literally all activities to engage in devotional service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As repeatedly confirmed in Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, anyone who gives up sinful activities, offensive activities as well as his responsibilities of material dharma in order to engage in pure devotional service unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His original form of Kṛṣṇa or as His Viṣṇu-tattva expansions will be factually saved from the bindings of the material world. See Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.5.17. The “heavenly abode” in this Rāmāyaṇa verse refers to Vaikuṇṭha, the supreme celestial abode, just as bhāgavata-dharma is the supreme form of Vedic dharma.
