Chapter 42: Daśaratha Goes to Kausalyā’s Residence in Distress
Text 2.42.2
यावद्राजा प्रियं पुत्रं पश्यत्यत्यन्तधार्मिकम्।
तावद्व्यवर्धतेवास्य धरण्यां पुत्रदर्शने॥
yāvad rājā priyaṁ putraṁ paśyaty atyanta-dhārmikam
tāvad vyavardhatevāsya dharaṇyāṁ putra-darśane
yāvat = for as long as; rājā = King Daśaratha; priyam = his beloved; putram = son; paśyati = he could see; atyanta-dhārmikam = who was extremely dhārmika; tāvat vyavardhata iva = got up and stood; asya = his; dharaṇyām = on the ground; putra-darśane = to see son.
King Daśaratha got up and stood on the ground to see his son for as long as he could see his beloved son who was extremely dhārmika.
