Chapter 42: Daśaratha Goes to Kausalyā’s Residence in Distress
Text 2.42.17
उत्थास्यति च मेदिन्याः कृपणः पांसुकुण्ठितः।
विनिश्वसन्प्रस्रवणात्करेणूनामिवर्षभः॥
utthāsyati ca medinyāḥ kṛpaṇaḥ pāṁsu-kuṇṭhitaḥ
viniśvasan prasravaṇāt kareṇūnām iva rṣabhaḥ
utthāsyati ca = will get up; medinyāḥ = from the ground; kṛpaṇaḥ = that poor soul; pāṁsu-kuṇṭhitaḥ = covered over by dust; viniśvasan = while sighing [in distress]; prasravaṇāt = near a waterfall 1; kareṇūnām = she-elephants; iva = like; ṛṣabhaḥ = the leader.
Covered over by dust, that poor soul will get up from the ground while sighing [in distress] like the leader of she-elephants near a waterfall.
