Chapter 42: Daśaratha Goes to Kausalyā’s Residence in Distress
Text 2.42.27
कौसल्याया गृहं शीघ्रं राममातुर्नयन्तु माम्।
न ह्यन्यत्र ममाश्वासो हृदयस्य भविष्यति॥
kausalyāyā gṛhaṁ śīghraṁ rāma-mātur nayantu mām
na hy anyatra mamāśvāso hṛdayasya bhaviṣyati
kausalyāyāḥ = Kausalyā; gṛham = to the house; śīghram = quickly; rāma-mātuḥ = of Rāma’s mother; nayantu = let the gatekeepers take; mām = me; na hi = never; anyatra = anywhere else in the inner quarters; mama = my; āśvāsaḥ = consolation; hṛdayasya = heart; bhaviṣyati = will attain.
Let the gatekeepers quickly take me to the house of Rāma’s mother, Kausalyā. My heart will never attain consolation anywhere else in the inner quarters.
