Chapter 42: Daśaratha Goes to Kausalyā’s Residence in Distress
Text 2.42.31
तच्च दृष्ट्वा महाराजो भुजमुद्यम्य वीर्यवान्।
उच्चैः स्वरेण चुक्रोश हा राघव जहासि माम्॥
tac ca dṛṣṭvā mahā-rājo bhujam udyamya vīryavān
uccaiḥ svareṇa cukrośa hā rāghava jahāsi mām
tat ca = this; dṛṣṭvā = noticing; mahā-rājaḥ = Mahārāja Daśaratha; bhujam = his arms; udyamya = lifted and; vīryavān = the powerful; uccaiḥ svareṇa = in a loud voice; cukrośa = cried out; hā = alas; rāghava = Rāghava; jahāsi = You have left; mām = me.
Noticing this, the powerful Mahārāja Daśaratha lifted his arms and in a loud voice cried out: “Alas, Rāghava, You have left me!
