Chapter 42: Daśaratha Goes to Kausalyā’s Residence in Distress
Text 2.42.32

सुखिता बत तं कालं जीविष्यन्ति नरोत्तमाः।
परिष्वजन्तो ये रामं द्रक्ष्यन्ति पुनरागतम्॥

sukhitā bata taṁ kālaṁ jīviṣyanti narottamāḥ
pariṣvajanto ye rāmaṁ drakṣyanti punar āgatam

sukhitāḥ = will be happy; bata = alas; tam kālam = until; jīviṣyanti = live; nara-uttamāḥ = and the best of men; pariṣvajantaḥ = and embrace [Him]; ye = those who; rāmam = Rāma; drakṣyanti = they see; punaḥ āgatam = return.

“Alas, those who live [until] they see Rāma return and embrace [Him] will be happy and the best of men!”
