Chapter 45: The Brāhmaṇas from Ayodhyā Follow Rāma
Text 2.45.6
या प्रीतिर्बहुमानश्च मय्ययोध्यानिवासिनाम्।
मत्प्रियार्थं विशेषेण भरते सा निवेश्यताम्॥
yā prītir bahu-mānaś ca mayy ayodhyā-nivāsinām
mat-priyārthaṁ viśeṣeṇa bharate sā niveśyatām
yā = which; prītiḥ = love; bahu-mānaḥ = great honor; ca = and; mayi = [have] for Me; ayodhyā-nivāsinām = all of you residing in Ayodhyā; mat-priya-artham = to please Me; viśeṣeṇa = especially; bharate = in Bharata; sā = the; niveśyatām = place.
Place the love and great honor which all of you residing in Ayodhyā [have] for Me in Bharata, especially to please Me.
Because Rāma had to carry out His father’s instructions, He advised them out of affection.
