Chapter 45: The Brāhmaṇas from Ayodhyā Follow Rāma
Text 2.45.13
ते द्विजास्त्रिविधं वृद्धा ज्ञानेन वयसौजसा।
वयःप्रकम्पशिरसो दुरादूचुरिदं वचः॥
te dvijās trividhaṁ vṛddhā jñānena vayasaujasā
vayaḥ-prakampa-śiraso dūrād ūcur idaṁ vacaḥ
te = those; dvijāḥ = twice-born; trividham = in three ways; vṛddhāḥ = were old; jñānena = knowledge; vayasā = age; ojasā = and ascetic strength; vayaḥ-prakampa-śirasaḥ = their heads shook due to old age; dūrāt = from a distance; ūcuḥ = they spoke; idam = the following; vacaḥ = words.
Those twice-born were old in three ways: knowledge, age and ascetic strength. Their heads shook due to old age. From a distance, they spoke the following words.
