Chapter 45: The Brāhmaṇas from Ayodhyā Follow Rāma
Text 2.45.17
एवमार्तप्रलापंस्तान्वृद्धान्प्रलपतो द्विजान्।
अवेक्ष्य सहसा रामो रथादवततार ह॥
evam ārta-pralāpāṁs tān vṛddhān pralapato dvijān
avekṣya sahasā rāmo rathād avatatāra ha
evam = such; ārta-pralāpān = words of distress; tān = the; vṛddhān = elderly; pralapataḥ = speaking; dvijān = twice-born; avekṣya = noticed; sahasā = as soon as; rāmaḥ = Rāma; rathāt = from the chariot; avatatāra ha = He got down.
As soon as Rāma noticed the elderly twice-born speaking such words of distress, He got down from the chariot.
