Chapter 46: Rāma Leaves the Brāhmaṇas to go to the Forest
Text 2.46.4

अद्यायोध्या तु नगरी राजधानी पितुर्मम।
सस्त्रीपुंसागतानस्माञ्शोचिष्यति न संशयः॥

adyāyodhyā tu nagarī rāja-dhānī pitur mama
sastrī-puṁsāgatān asmāñ śociṣyati na saṁśayaḥ

adya = today; ayodhyā tu = Ayodhyā; nagarī = city; rāja-dhānī = the capital; pituḥ = of father; mama = My; sastrī-puṁsā = with its women and men; āgatān = who have come [here]; asmān = for us; śociṣyati = will lament; na saṁśayaḥ = undoubtedly.

Undoubtedly today Ayodhyā, the capital city of My father, with its women and men, will lament for us who have come [here].

When Rāmacandra compared the sounds of the forest creatures to the crying of the forest, His remembrance of the city awakened in Him.
