Chapter 46: Rāma Leaves the Brāhmaṇas to go to the Forest
Text 2.46.18
उत्थाय तु महातेजाः प्रकृतीस्ता निशाम्य च।
अब्रवीद्भ्रातरं रामो लक्ष्मणं पुण्यलक्षणम्॥
utthāya tu mahā-tejāḥ prakṛtīs tā niśāmya ca
abravīd bhrātaraṁ rāmo lakṣmaṇaṁ puṇya-lakṣaṇam
utthāya tu = after waking up; mahā-tejāḥ = of great prowess; prakṛtīḥ = subjects; tāḥ = the; niśāmya ca = noticed and; abravīt = told [the following]; bhrātaram = His brother; rāmaḥ = Rāma; lakṣmaṇam = Lakṣmaṇa; puṇya-lakṣaṇam = of auspicious characteristics.
After waking up, Rāma of great prowess noticed the subjects and told His brother Lakṣmaṇa of auspicious characteristics [the following].
