Chapter 46: Rāma Leaves the Brāhmaṇas to go to the Forest
Text 2.46.19
अस्मद्व्यपेक्षान्सौमित्रे निरपेक्षान्गृहेष्वपि।
वृक्षमुलेषु संसुप्तान्पश्य लक्ष्मण साम्प्रतम्॥
asmad-vyapekṣān saumitre nirapekṣān gṛheṣv api
vṛkṣa-mūleṣu saṁsuptān paśya lakṣmaṇa sāmpratam
asmat-vyapekṣān = they are especially dependent on us; saumitre = son of Sumitrā; nirapekṣān = they are indifferent; gṛheṣu = to their homes; api = even; vṛkṣa-mūleṣu = under the trees; saṁsuptān = they are fast asleep; paśya = look [at the residents of Ayodhyā]; lakṣmaṇa = Lakṣmaṇa; sāmpratam = now.
Lakṣmaṇa, son of Sumitrā, look at [the residents of Ayodhyā]. They are especially dependent on us. They are indifferent even to their homes. They are fast asleep under the trees now.
