यथैते नियमं पौराः कुर्वन्त्यस्मन्निवर्तने।
अपि प्राणानसिष्यन्ति न तु त्यक्ष्यन्ति निश्चयम्॥
yathaite niyamaṁ paurāḥ kurvanty asman-nivartane
api prāṇān asiṣyanti na tu tyakṣyanti niścayam
yathā = just as; ete = these; niyamam = endeavoring [so] hard; paurāḥ = residents of Ayodhyā; kurvanti = are; asmat-nivartane = to stop us [from going to the forest]; api = even; prāṇān = their lives; asiṣyanti = they can give up; na = not; tu = but; tyakṣyanti = they will give up; niścayam = their determination to stop us [from going to the forest].
Just as these residents of Ayodhyā are endeavoring [so] hard to stop us [from going to the forest], they can even give up their lives.1 But they will not give up their determination to stop us [from going to the forest].
1 These residents of Ayodhyā could give up their lives just as easily as they were endeavoring so hard to prevent Lord Rāma from going to the forest.
