Chapter 46: Rāma Leaves the Brāhmaṇas to go to the Forest
Text 2.46.28

तं स्यन्दनमधिष्ठाय राघवः सपरिच्छदः।
शीघ्रगामाकुलावर्तां तमसामतरन्नदीम्॥

taṁ syandanaṁ adhiṣṭhāya rāghavaḥ saparicchadaḥ
śīghragām ākulāvartāṁ tamasām ataran nadīm

tam = the; syandanam = chariot; adhiṣṭhāya = getting onto; rāghavaḥ = Rāghava; saparicchadaḥ = with bows, armors and other paraphernalia; śīghragām = the swift-flowing; ākula-āvartām = that was filled with many gulfs; tamasām = Tamasā; atarat = crossed over; nadīm = river.

Getting onto the chariot with bows, armors and other paraphernalia, Rāghava crossed over the swift-flowing river Tamasā that was filled with many gulfs.
