Chapter 48: The Ladies in Ayodhyā Lament
Text 2.48.11
काननं वापि शैलं वा यं रामोऽभिगमिष्यति।
प्रियातिथिमिव प्राप्तं नैनं शक्ष्यन्त्यनर्चितुम्॥
kānanaṁ vāpi śailaṁ vā yaṁ rāmo ’bhigamiṣyati
priyātitihim iva prāptaṁ nainaṁ śakṣyanty anarcitum
kānanam vā api = the forest; śailam = mountain; vā = or; yam = that; rāmaḥ = Rāma; abhigamiṣyati = resorts to; priya-atitihim = a beloved guest; iva = for He would be like; prāptam = come to them; na = not; enam = Him; śakṣyanti = would be able; anarcitum = to dishonor.
“The forest or mountain that Rāma resorts to would not be able to dishonor Him for He would be like a beloved guest come to them.
They would not be able to dishonor Him, that is, they would certainly be able to honor Him.
